In Martin Luther King Jr’s I have a dream speech is he wants everyone to have the same rights as each others they needed to be treated fairly and equal. The central idea is Martin Luther King Jr wants the black and white people to have the same rights. He wants everyone to be treated the same and fairly. White people should not judge black people on how they are or their skin color. Everyone should be free. “ I have a dream that one day in Alabama with its vicious racists with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of interposition and nullification right there in alabama little black boys and girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and girls as sisters and brothers”. Why i believe that this quote is so effective toward getting his message across to the american people is because that all the children both black and white boys and girls would both be free and they would share and have the same rights. Also they would be so happy that they would call themselfs as brothers and sisters. In Martin luther king jrs speech “i have a dream” he is saying that he wants the blacks and whites to have the same rights and he wants them both to be free.

Martin Luther Jing, Jr. gave the "I Have a Dream" speech to encourage people that we needed to change. A central idea that King conveys in his speech is that the time for equality is now. He makes this message clear by using repetition in the fifth excerpt. He repeats the phrase Now is the time many times. King also explains why it would be bad if we ignored the urgency of the moment. "Nineteen sixty-three is not an end, but a beginning." I believe this quote is effective toward getting his message across to the American people. King is stating that now is the beginning of racial equality and togetherness. He's stating that it is the beginning of a new era where everyone can join hands whether black or white. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech conveys that the time for equality is now because he repeats himself in many different ways and forms.

Martin Luther King was a preacher who fought for the rights of black people, and was mostly known for his “I have a dream” speech. The central idea of this speech is “The time for equality is now” This message was given through repetition because he said the same thing multiple times in different ways. This was clear because that he wanted racial justice. “Now is time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice.” This quote is effective to his message because he doesn't want race to affect peoples life. He wanted the same rights as white people , why should race matter. “The time for equality is now Martin Luther King didn't want race to change how people are as an actual person. The “I have a dream” speech changed how people looked at each other forever.

“I Have A Dream” Speech Central Idea
In Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech, Martin Luther King proves the central idea of his speech clearly and on numerous occasions. The central idea being: The Time for Equality is now. King proves and explains this central idea time and time again in many different ways throughout the speech while having excellent use of literary devices and figurative language to help add imagery to it. In this paragraph, he truly makes his central idea come to life: “We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind America of the fierce urgency of Now. This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God's children” (King Paragraph 6). This quote is so effective to getting his message across to the American people because it is so plain, but spoken with such beauty and elegance that even the most racist person in the U.S. cannot help being inspired by that paragraph of King’s Speech. As you can see, King’s central idea of his “I Have a Dream” speech was The Time for Equality is now. And he was able to drive that point across his speech effectively and clearly throughout it.

CQE Central Idea of “I Have a Dream” speech
Martin Luther King, Jr. was a well-known and famous civil rights movement leader who wrote and presented his “I Have a Dream” speech. He lead in several and very long protest marches to get the nation to notice the problem about racism and the “Negros” not being free. The time fro equality is now. This was the message that King was trying to represent and prove as his central idea. In almost all of the paragraphs in the “I Have a Dream” speech, King would back up his idea of, (the time for equality and freedom is now), with great allusions of the Emancipation, metaphors, similes, and alliteration. This is why so many people in the world would title this speech as rich in literature and vocabulary. “But one- hundred years later, the Negro is still not free.” King wants to dramatize the problem of the “Negros” still not being free, and he also wants the nation and the world to solve this problem now and not later. “Now is the time to lift our nation from the quick sands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood.” I believe that this quote is so effective toward getting his message across to the American people because is describes how hard the “Negros” went through during the years, but with the help of Americans and other religions and nations, the “Negros” can live happily, peacefully, and healthy with their families, friends and freedom surrounding all of them like a warm and soft blanket. The “I Have a Dream” speech, was well-written by a very strong and peaceful civil rights leader, Martin Luther King, Jr. His speech has a strong central idea, of the time for equality is now. In many different ways, he is trying to display the difficulty and sufferings of the “Negros.” Kings ultimate dream for his nation is to react now, and help the “Negros” back up onto their feet, so they can finally get what they were granted, freedom. “Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!”

Martin Luther King Jr. was an African American preacher who was most known for his speech “I Have a Dream”. One of the many central ideas of his speech is “the time for equality is now”. Dr.King proves this message throughout his speech by having great use of figurative language. He used numerous metaphors and compared his want for freedom and justice to many different things. This made it very clear that he wanted racial injustice to stop now. “So we have come to cash this check- a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice.” In this quote, Dr.King compares cashing a check to having freedom and justice. The “I Have a Dream” speech let people see each other differently, and did not judge each other because of their skin color.

  8. The speech " I Have a Dream" By Martin Luther King, main idea is about the Negros getting their freedom. Also I found this main idea because of all of the figurative language. " America has given the Negros the bad check with insufficient funds". the quote shows that the Negros have not been given what they disserve or what's theirs. The speech by Martin Luther king ... main idea is about inequality to the Negros.

Dr. Martin Luther King, winner of the Nobel peace prize and is known for his "I Have A Dream" speech. The speech was for civil rights for blacks in America and for whites and blacks to live in peace. The central idea is the time for equality is now which means black people don't want to wait for equal treatment, no longer riding in the back of the bus and can drink from the same water fountains. Blacks should have the same laws that white people have. The laws should be the same for all people because black people are Americans too."Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksand's of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God's children.." Dr. Martin Luther King repeats now four times to get his message across. The time is now for change and black people were not going to wait any longer to be treated fairly. In conclusion Dr. Martin Luther King Jr 's "I Have A Dream" speech is talking about how the time of equality is now and black people cannot wait for civil rights to be given to blacks. Slavery ended 100 years ago and blacks still were not treated equally so now is the time for change so black people don't have to wait another 100 years. This is the reason repeated the word now four times.

  10. Martin Luther King Jr. wrote his "I Have a Dream" speech because he felt strongly about freedom and equality. The main idea of Kings "I Have a Dream" speech is that people shouldn't sit around waiting , everyone deserves equality and it shouldn't have been this long until people realized that.King makes this message clear by using figurative language and how he says the things he says. The figurative language he usually uses is allusion, metaphors, and repetition, he does this so people can understand the message he is trying to conve. "So we have come to cash this check - a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice. We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind America of the fierce urgency of now. THis is a metaphor which compares checks, banks, and/or money to the inequality and discrimination that takes place in America. It shows that what is going on won't be taken any longer and people won't back down. Also at the end King says that the time of urgency is now and he is very clearly stating that what is going on isn't fair and that they need to stand up and stop what is going on. King clearly stated that people needed to take action of the unfairness that was going on in america and they needed to do it A.S.A.P

Martin Luther King Jr. gave the “I Have a Dream” speech to encourage people that the time for equality is now. The central idea of this speech is that the time for equality is now. The message was given clearly with the use of repetition. In his speech he repeats the words, “Now is the time”, to tell the people who are listening that now is the time for equality. He also tells people to not hesitate to make change and act now on the opportunity. “Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice.” I believe that this quote is effective towards the American people. Martin is stating that now is the time to rise from the inequalities that everyone has towards the Negros and go towards the path of equality and racial justice. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s speech tells everyone listening that the time for equality is now and don’t wait to act upon the opportunity because he uses repetition and metaphors.

Martin Luther King Jr. gave his “I Have a Dream” speech to stop segregation and have all people, regardless of skin color, be equal. He makes his message clear by referring to different historical documents such as the Declaration of Independence and the Emancipation Proclamation. One document gave all people rights such as liberty and the other freed the slaves. He also uses different types of figurative language such as metaphors and repetition. He compares a black person’s suffering to a “sweltering summer” and continually repeats the phrase “I have a dream…” for emphasis. The quote that I believe best communicated the main idea was “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” To me this quote is effective in getting his message across because it shows that not only does Martin Luther King want equality now for millions of black people but he also wants it for his own children and people of the next generation. In “I Have a Dream,” Martin Luther King wants to see an end to discrimination by allowing everyone to be equal and free.

  13. Martin Luther King, Jr. gave the “I Have a Dream” speech to demand rights and freedom for black people. When King conveys that the time for equality is now, he means that him and his fellow African - Americans will not wait any longer for freedom. He gives this message through peaceful protests, marches and speeches. He gives his most famous speech, the “I Have a Dream” speech in front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. “Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice.” This quote shows how that now, or in 1963, black people will not stand for racial injustice anymore, but will become at one with white people and they will work together in peace, and treat each other as equals. Martin Luther King, Jr. gave the “I Have a Dream” speech to demand rights and freedom for black people.

“I Have a Dream” Central Idea (CQE)

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a well-known civil rights movement leader who wrote and presented his “I Have a Dream” speech in front of the nation. He has lead in several long protest marches to get the nation to realize the problem about racism and that the “negro” is still not free. Dr. King gave his “I Have a Dream” speech at Washington D.C. in front of the Lincoln Memorial to over 250 thousand people. His speech was so important, it was broadcasted live on television. The time for equality is now. This was the message king was trying to prove and present as his central idea. “We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind America of the fierce urgency of now. This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quick sands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God’s children,” (King paragraph 6). This quote is so effective toward getting his message across to the American people because it is spoken with such beauty and elegance that even the most racist person cannot help but by being inspired by that paragraph of Dr. King’s speech. It is almost impossible to ignore that the time for equality is now. The “I Have a Dream” speech by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., let people see each other differently, and made people feel that the time for equality is now.

Martin Luther king Jr was an amazing man he made the “I have dream” speech that helped make equality happen. He also was an amazing writer with wonderful writing skills. King was an amazing speaker as well as writer. He knew how to connect the audience and how to really sell the topic. It also really worked he got people to change their minds that people thought their minds couldn’t be changed. He mainly based his writing for I have a dream on that the time for equality is now. “Now is the time to lift our nation from the quick sands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood.” This quote works its way into our minds and gets us to picture us lifting someone out of trouble and into the safety. King wanted to make his point so clear we could see it from far away. He did well because everyone saw what he wanted to do and helped him with his dream. He really got it into everyone’s mind and it’s hard not to get swept away by this speeches.

  16. In Martin Luther’s king speech “I have a dream” he speaks about how the time for equality is now.
Martin Luther’s kings central idea is the time for equality is now. This means that Martin Luther king wants the Negros to have many rights like the whites and want them to be treated equally. Martin Luther king thinks this can be accomplished by using nonviolence method. “This note was a promise that all men, yes black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” This quote explains that both white and black people should be treated equally Martin Luther king was talking about the Declaration independence because Thomas Jefferson stated that all men are created equally. Martin Luther king believed that Government was not treated them equally.
In Martin Luther king I have a dream he speaks about the time for equality is now.

In Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech, Martin Luther King proves the central idea of his speech clearly. Martin Luther King led in several protest marches to get the nation to be aware of the problem about racism. One of his statements is that the time for equality is now. That is what he was trying to prove in his speech [central idea.] In almost all of his paragraphs King says the time for equality is known. King also uses allusions to the Emancipation and Gettysburg. This is why people refer to this speech as rich in literature. “Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to sunlit path of racial justice.” This quote is packed with power and affects the Americans. King is stating that now is the time to rise from the inequalities that everyone has towards the Negros and embrace that we are all god’s children and live in harmony. “I Have a Dream” speech is saying that the time for equality is now. King successfully was able to put that in his speech effectively.
