Martin Luther King Jr. is the man who wrote/presented the “I Have A Dream” speech. The message of the speech is the time for equality is now. He explained this message by using types of writing such as figurative language and rhetorical devices. The type of figurative language he uses is mostly metaphors and allusion. An example of him using Figurative language is freedom is like cashing in a check. He also repeats important information of his speech to get the listener?readers attention. An examle of him doing this is him repeating is him repeating “I Have a dream”.
“-- A check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice”. “We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind America of the fierce urgency of now”.
I think this quote is effective to getting his message across because he states how freedom should be given to all and the time to make that happen is now, not later in time.
As you can see the central idea of this speech is that the time for equality is now.

  2. Martin Luther king Jr. gave the “I Have a Dream” speech in 1963 to get people to listen and to share his dreams for Negros. The central idea of King’s speech is that the time for equality is now. King got his point across and made this message clear in many different ways. MLK made a lot of metaphors, comparing how the Negros were being treated and what they needed to do to other things. King also used a lot of repetition. For example, his famous “I have a dream” line. He also used the words “freedom” and “equality” to get his points and central idea across. “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” (paragraph 13) This quote explains what King wanted for the Negro people. This quote talks about his dream for equality and freedom. It also shows that MLK wanted to end racism and judgment. MLK’s “I Have a Dream” speech talked mainly about how the time for equality is now. King got his point across in many ways.

  3. The "I Have a Dream" speech was a call for freedom and equality, written by Martin Luther King Jr.
The central idea of "I Have a Dream" is that now is the time for Negro's to get the equality that they deserve. King makes this message clear by using figurative language and imagery with powerful concepts, that stick in the mid of the reader/listener.
A quote that I found very powerful was "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."
This quote is effective toward getting his message across, because it shows that people (such as King's children) do not have the racial quality that they deserve. It is also powerful in the mind of the reader/listener because it gives you an important message that segregation is not okay.
As you can see, King conveys his message very well that the time for equality is now, in his "I Have a Dream" speech.

  4. Martin luther king Jr. told everyone about his"I have a drean" speech because he wanted everyone to be free and equality.
Martin lther king told everyone about his speech because when he saw everyone arguing and fighting,he had to tell everyone to stop fighting and be kind to echudors and be friends.
A quote that I found was very powerful was "to pray together, to stuggle together,to go to jail together,to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day."
he used this quote because he wanted everybodyto be free together and do everything together like they were brothers and sister's.
Ascan been seen, the central idea is that the time for equality is now.

  6. Martin Luther King Jr. spoke his "I Have a Dream" speech, in August, 1963 in Washington D.C. to prove the point that the time for equality is now. This phrase, the time for equality is now is the central of MLK's speech. It means that it is time for every man to be treated equal. King used lots of figurative language and literary devices to prove this idea in many different ways. One example is "But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt." This quote states that Negros will refuse to believe that there is no justice left in the world and they know everyone has justice lift in there, Blacks and Whites. Martin Luther King proved that the time for equality is now through his "I Have a Dream" speech in many powerful ways.

  7. Martin Luther King gave his "I Have a Dream" as a call for freedom for the negro people. King made his message very clear. He used lots of figurative language and literary devices in his speech. He stated that the negro people should get the freedoms that they are owed. "America has given the negro people a bad check, a check which has come back marked insufficient funds." This means that the negro people have come to get the freedoms they were promised, but the freedoms weren't given to them. This quote is very effective because MLK explains that it isn't fair how the negro people haven't received their rights yet. Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech was written because he wanted everyone to know that the time for equality is now.

  8. Martin Luther King Jr.'s speech "I have a dream" stated that the time for equality is now. King gets across this message by using figurative language and rhetorical devices. one device he uses is repetition. He repeats many phrases."So let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire. Let freedom ring from the mountains of New York. Let freedom ring from the snow capped Rockies of Colorado! Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of California!.." This quote is so effective of his message across the American people because he repeats "Let freedom ring" many time. When you repeat something, it gets stuck in people's minds. Martin Luther King Used repetition to get the message across in the "I Have a Dream" speech.

Martin Luther King Jr. had a very important role in the civil rights movement. During that time he made one of his most famous speeches, “I Have a Dream.” He gave his speech to raise awareness for equal rights for everyone. The central idea of his “I Have a Dream” speech was that “now” was the time for equality and people could no longer wait. This message was given because of how the speech was written. He used repetition, allusions, and figurative language. These techniques had a great impact on how the speech sounded and on the central idea that was given. “Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quick sands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God’s children.” I feel that this quote is effective towards getting Martin Luther King Jr.’s message across to the American people because of the techniques he used. He repeated “Now is the time” to show the urgency of now (back then) and he used figurative language to compare what’s happening and what should be happening. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech had a great impact in the civil rights movement and so did he. The central idea, “now is the time” for equality, was made clear by the techniques that were used throughout the speech.

  10. I have a Dream
Martin Luther King Jr gave his famous “I have a Dream” speech in 1963, because he wanted to end segregation.
The central idea the time for equality is now means that segregation has to end, differences put aside, and blacks and whites join hands together in peace. “Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate of segregation to the seeing path of racial injustice”
The quote was effective towards getting the message across because Martin Luther King Jr is saying; we are going to fight it and come from having the worst life ever to holding hands with white people and be happy. The main idea is the time for equality is now, and Martin Luther King Jr made it clear by explaining it in the quote “Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate of segregation to the seeing path of racial injustice”.

  11. Martin Luther King Jr. wrote the "I Have a Dream speech"to let the people know that the time for equality is now. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. ( MLK ) wanted everyone to have equal rights. He went to jail many times because of his silent protests. He was in the Montgomery Bus Boycott. During his speech over 250000 people were in his presence. He changed there minds because of the promise long ago. " So we have come to cash this check-a check that will give us the riches of freedom and security of justice." This quote shows that we owe people we mistreated an apology. In this case we owe dark skinned people their freedom. MLK shows what we have been doing wrong all these years and we need to set our ways straight.

  12. Martin Luther King Jr.’s I Have a Dream speech was written to convey that all people deserve full equality. One central idea that King conveys in his speech is that the time for equality is now. This idea is given by King explain that the Negro are tired of segregation and want their full citizenship. “I have a dream that one day this nation ill rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed.” I believe that this quote is effective in getting King’s message across because since the Negro are being discriminated against at that time the American Creed is freedom for all which concludes that this quote shows the time for equality is now. A central idea of Martin Luther King Jr.’s I Have a Dream speech was the time for equality is now. This central idea as conveyed by explaining the Negro’s sufferings and wants for equality.

Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech, King says how he wants black and whites to join hands and how everyone should have equality. The central idea of King's speech is that now is the time for equality. MLK delivers the message in many different ways. He used lots of repetition with the phrases, "I have a dream", "Now is the time" and more. He also delivered the message by using allusions and different figurative languages. "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." (13) I believe that this quote is so effective getting his message across because it was what MLK wanted. It shows that MLK wanted everybody to change their thoughts on Negros and not to judge them just because of their skin color. Martin Luther King made his point clear in many different ways in his, "I Have a Dream" speech.

  15. In 1963 Martin Luther King gave his I have a dream speech. The central idea is that we must get freedom everywhere and as soon as possible. He used a lot of repetition and figurative language but one that really gets his point across is the phrase Now is the Time. He uses this to say now is the time to rise from poverty. He says now is the time and then a metaphor of rising from poverty to tell us now is the time to let freedom ring. He uses let freedom ring often to tell us that freedom needs to be sounded and it has to be loud. Then when you put the two together it says now is the time to let freedom ring.

"Let freedom ring from the snowcapped Rockies of Colorado!
Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of California!
But not only that; let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of
    Georgia!
Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee! Let
freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississipi."

This quote is saying let freedom ring not just from here but from everywhere and when you add all this up it says Now is the time to let freedom ring everywhere. This is how Martin shares his main idea.

Martin Luther King Jr. wrote a speech titled ‘‘ I Have a Dream’’ for the Negros to be free. The central idea of the time for equality is now is how he wants everyone to be free. The message was given by how he states freedom for everyone. ‘‘ And when this happens, when we allow freedom to ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands.’’ I think this quote is so effective toward the getting his message across to the American people because it explains how freedom will go everywhere and how we will be able to join hands. Martin Luther King Jr. wrote a speech titled ‘‘ I Have a Dream’’ for the Negros and others to be free.

  17. Martin Luther King Jr. wrote his “I Have a Dream” speech to show that the time for equality is now. Kings states in his speech many times that they have to have equality and says that it must start now. “Now is the time to make the real promises of the democracy. Now is the to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quick sands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all gods children.” This quote is getting his word across because MLK said the phrase “Now Is the Time” multiple times. He is basically saying now or never. This proves that the central idea of MLK’s speech is that the time for equality is now.

Martin Luther King Jr. wrote "I Have a Dream" speech for the time for equality is now. The central idea means that all negros should be free. "Now is the time to make justice a reality for all gods children" this quote means that all Gods children should be free and treated equal. This means Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech means that everyone should be treated equal and not as second hand citizens.
