  1. “A Dream Deferred” by Langston Hughes is about what happens when a dream has been postponed or delayed. The central idea of “A Dream Deferred” is you should not put off or postpone a dream. This message was given in a way were you are dreaming about someone or something and you stop dreaming about it you wonder where it went. “What happens when a dream deferred?” I believe this quote is so effective toward getting his message across because he is asking about when you postpone a dream. “A Dream Deferred by Langston Hughes is about what happens when a dream has been postponed or delayed.

  2. There is a famous poem called “A Dream Deferred” by Langston Hughes. It is about what happens to a dream when it is postponed or deferred. The central idea of this poem is that you should never put off your dreams. Langston Hughes delivered this message in his poem by describing what happens to a dream when it’s deferred. “What happens to a dream deferred? Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun? Or fester like a sore—And then run?”
This quote from the poem shows what happens to a lost dream. It shows that you should pursue your dreams and not let them rot. In Langston Hughes’ “A Dream Deferred” the central idea is that we should never postpone our dreams or they will never come true. He delivers this message by stating what happens to a dream deferred.

The poem “ A Dream Deferred” was a magnificent poem written by Langston Hughes. Though the poem was very short, a very strong message is conveyed through it. The central idea of “ A Dream Deferred” is that you should never postpone a dream. Langston Hughes made this message clear by using many forms of figurative language in his poem. He gave dreams human traits. He even painted pictures with words that can happen to a dream in his poem. In the poem it states, “What happens to a dream deferred*?” “Does it dry up--like a raisin in the sun?”. It also states “ Or fester ** like a sore-- And then run?” Finally in the poem it states, “Or does it explode.” I believe that each quote that I used was effective towards Langston Hughes message because each quote uses a different kind of figurative language, that shows what Langston Hughes compared a dream too. Overall, the central idea of “A Dream Deferred” written by Langston Hughes is to never postpone a dream.

  4. In “A Dream Deferred”, Langston Hughes uses a central idea that tells us not to put off or postpone a dream. Langston Hughes uses this central idea to tell us to follow our dreams. He gives this message by describing what happens to a dream that has been put off or postponed. “Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun? Or fester like a sore—and then run?” I believe this quote is effective toward getting Hughes’ message across because it shows how he describes what would happen to a dream deferred. He asks himself if it dries up like a raisin in the sun or if it festers like a sore. In “A Dream Deferred”, Langston Hughes creates the central idea of not postponing a dream by describing what would happen to a dream deferred.

“A Dream Deferred” was a poem written by Langston Hughes. The main idea of the poem was to not put off or pospone your dreams, because then your dreams will never come true if you never take a chance and chase after your dreams. This message was given by the examples of what would happen to a dream deferred if you don’t put action into it in the poem. “What happens to a dream deferred? Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun? Or fester like a sore- - - and then run?” This quote shows if you put off a dream or wait forever to make it happen then after a while it can just be forgotten and never thought about again. “A Dream Deferred” written by Langston Hughes showed clearly how you should’nt pospone your dreams because he says that it will just be a forgotten dream and you will regret that you never tried to put action into that dream.

In the poem “A Dream Deferred” Langston Hughes says that you should not postpone a dream. The central idea of “A Dream Deferred: is not to put off a dream. The message was given by using figurative language. Langston Hughes also uses examples and similes on what can happen to a dream once it had been deferred or postponed. “Or crust over and sugar over like a syrupy sweet? Maybe it just sags like a heavy load. Or does it explode?” This quote is effective towards getting this message across because it explains using figurative language and imagery. Langston Hughes gets his message by saying possibilities whenever a dream is postponed or deferred. “A Dream Deferred” by Langston Hughes has a central idea which is that you should not postpone a dream which was made clear with figurative language.

  8. Langston Hughes "A Dream Deferred" explores what happens when a dream, is not gone after. The poem conveys one central idea, that you should not put off or postpone a dream. The message was given by Hughes when he uses questions wondering all the possible things that may happen to a dream postponed. He also states that the dream not gone after could go away forever. "Or fester** like a sore - - And then run?" I believe that this quote is effective toward getting his message across because he is stating that a dream can go bad. After is goes bad, the dream just might go and run away. Langston Hughes "A Dream Deferred" conveys that you should not put off or postpone a dream because you do not know what may happen to it.

  9. Langston Hughes is the author of "a Dream Deferred". The central idea of a dream deferred is that you have to chase after your dreams and not postpone them. Hughes goes on in the poem to ask what happens to a dream that is not chased; postponed. He says that it might crust like a candy, sag, or explode. the message is clear-DO NOT postpone your dreams. "What happens to a dream deferred; Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun?; Or fester like a sore - - and than run? Does it stink like rotten meat?; Or crust and sugar over like a syrupy sweet?" (Langston Hughes, 1) I believe that this conveys the message the most because it uses imagery to explain you don't want to let it sit.

  11. In the poem " A dream Deferred" Langston Hughes said that you should not put off or post pone a dream. The central idea of the poem is that you should put off or post pone a dream. He conveys this by saying what might happen is you put off your dreams." Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun; Or fester like a sore and run". I believe that this coveys the central idea because it says what would happen if you don't follow your dreams and he uses a lot of imagery to convey this message even better.

  14. Langston Hughes is a famous author and this poem is called “A Dream Deferred”. The central idea of the poem is that you should not put off or postpone a dream. The central idea means if you have a dream, don’t let it go and try to accomplish it by working hard on it and if you don’t, then you won’t get anywhere with it. Hughes made this message clear by using a lot of figurative language in the poem. Hughes’ poem says “does it dry up like a raisin in the sun?” I believe that this part of the poem is so effective toward getting his message across because even though there was more than one example, that one means the most and it’s saying that your dream would dry up like a raisin when you forget about it. Langston Hughes’ “A Dream Deferred” was clear by the imagery that he used.

  16. Langston Hughes wrote the poem “A Dream Deferred”. The central idea of the poem was to not give up on your dreams because once you do you will never achieve it. A dream does not just come to you, you have to go after your dream and not give up no matter how hard it gets. “What happens to a dream deferred? Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun.” This shows you that if you give up on a dream it will shrivel up and dry up till it is nothing. Langston Hughes “A Dream Deferred” was about how you should not give up on a dream no matter how hard it gets.

  17. The “I have a dream” by Langston Hughes, said, “Follow your dreams before it’s too late”
it means you Should not put away your dream but you got to make your dream happen before it’s too late.
“What happens to a dream deferred does it dry up like a raisin in the sun”
I think it’s so effective because, it dries up like a raisin sounds like it vanishes. You have to make it happen before it’s too later, before it dries up.
The, ”A dream deferred” by Langston Hughes, it makes it clear because deferred means when it’s too late.
