  1. Edgar Allan Poe created the feeling/mood of love and sorrow in his short story “Anabel Lee”, Poe created this mood by making the narrator describe how Anabel Lee looked , how her death occurred, and how their love was so strong. “For the moon never beams without bringing me dreams, of the beautiful Anabel Lee, and the stars never rise but I feel the bright eyes of the beautiful Anabel Lee, and so, all the night- tide, I lie down by the side of my darling-my darling bride” (lines 34-38). The quote is effective toward the mood of the beautiful Anabel Lee because, the narrator is telling you how his life grew with grief when his bride was no longer living in the physical world, and how he lay beside her his beautiful bride in hopes to see her again in heaven. The mood in Edgar Allan Poe created in “Anabel Lee” was love and sorrow. How the narrator missed her so much and lies by her side in grief beside her and hopes to one day reunite with her in heaven creates love and sorrow.

Edgar Allan Poe showed (created) mood in his poem “Annabel Lee, the narrator shows sadness, sorrow, and love. It made me feel this way because Edgar Allen Poe uses a choice of words ,rhyme, and figurative language. Some quotes from the poem that shows how he used figurative language and rhyme are “My Annabel Lee” , “chilling and killing my annabel lee” “with a love that winged seraphs of heaven converted her and me” “But we loved with a love that was more than love “ these quotes showed how he used some rhyme and figurative language these quotes were so effective toward the creation of the mood because it shows that it was sad and loving \sorrowful because the quotes give you a mood about the poem and how you feel about it, he puts figurative language to show the or his feelings. “Annabel Lee “ by Edgar Allan Poe, accomplished the mood by making it sad and loving (sorrow) with his rhyme and figurative language.

  4. Edgar Allan Poe creates a sorrowful mood in his poem “Annabel Lee”. He does this by making the sounds of each line flow together. He also uses rhyme scheme to get the feeling of the poem down. The punctuation in the poem also adds to the sorrow; stopping, continuing, and repeating words gives the poem suspense and that gives it a sad mood. Another thing he used was figurative language.
“And so all the night-tide, I lie down by the side
Of my darling- my darling- my life and my bride,
In the sepulchre by the sea,
In her tomb by the sounding sea,” (38-41).
This quote shows that the poem has a sad mood because it shows how much the speaker really loved Annabel Lee. The speaker loved Annabel Lee, but sadly she died. The quote also shows figurative language like assonance and hyperbole. This also shows a sad mood. The mood of “Annabel Lee” by Edgar Allan Poe is sadness and sorrow. Poe showed this by using punctuation, rhyme scheme, figurative language, and repetition of words to create a feeling of sorrow in the reader.

  5. In the poem "Annabel Lee" by Edgar Allan Poe the mood is sad. I believe that the mood is sad because the poem was about lost love and how he blames the angles for her death and how he will never forget his lost love. "And so,all the night-tide, I lie down by the side of my darling-my darling-my life and bride"(38+39) I believe that the quote is effected toward the creation of the mood because he says that she is his life and bride and even though she is dead he will always love her. This is why I believe the mood in "Annabel Lee"by Edgar Allan Poe is sad. Jennifer Lively mod:7

Edgar Allan Poe created the mood of "creepiness" in the short story "The Tell-Tale Heart." He made it creepy or eery because of his descriptive words and figurative language. His use of a first person point of view creates a feeling of what was going on or what the man was thinking. "Yet the sound increased- and what could I do? It was a low, dull, quick sound as a watch makes when enveloped in cotton. I gasped for breath- and yet the officers heard it not. (page 4.)" This quote is effective towards the mood because it explains the madness that was going on in he narrator's head. He claimed in hearing a noise "a watch makes when enveloped in cotton." And yet the officers didn't hear it because the man was insane. The mood was accomplished by alliteration and simile uses.

  7. "The Tell Tale Heart"

The piece The Tell-Tale Heart Made me feel scared and a bit paranoid. The author made me feel this way because he explained how he wanted to do this. They tell you right off the bat that he is mad. It creeps me out to see that I understand how the person who would kill because of an eye thinks. I feel scared. I think that this quote, the hook/lead also helps that feeling (not that I needed it). "TRUE! --Nervous --very, very dreadfully nervous I had been and am; but why will you say that I am mad? The disease had sharpened my senses --not destroyed --not dulled them." This quote is very effective because it says that he can hear everything. His disease had probably driven him to -SPOILER- killing the old man. You are led through the whole ordeal and explained to why he killed the old man. The mood made me feel scared and paranoid. What will it make you feel?!?

  8. In the short story "The Tell-Tale Heart" by Edgar Allan Poe, the mood of the story is a creepy mood. Some ways that he had set this mood were in the story the narrator stalked a man throughout the night. He wants to kill the man, because of the way the man's eye looks. Later on in the story, he kills the man and his the dead body under the floorboards. Later on the police come to see if everything is okay, because during the night, a neighbor reported a high pitched screech coming from the upstairs bedroom. When they questioned the narrator, he said that he had been the one who screeched and that the man was away on vacation. He then asked the police if the wanted to relax and have a drink. The two police officers sat down in chairs and began to talk. Suddenly the narrator began to hallucinate and thought the the man;'s heart was still beating, even though the man was dead. he tried to get the attention of the police, but they ignored him. Finally, the man thought that the beating was getting louder and louder, and said " Tear up the planks! Her! Here! It is the beating of his hideous heart" (5). This quote is effective to the mood of the story, because it shows how crazy the narrator was to think that the man's heart was still beating, and it shows that after he killed the man he hid the dead body under the floorboards of his house. In the short story "The Tell-Tale Heart" by Edgar Allan Poe, the mood that Poe created was a creepy mood. He does this by making the narrator stalk the man during the night, making the narrator kill the man, making the narrator hallucinate that the man's heart was still beating, and by making the narrator confess to the police that he had killed the man.

  9. Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Tell-Tale Heart”, has a creepy and disturbing mood. Edgar Allan Poe evoked these moods by his use of figurative speech and dashes is probably what made me feel “freaked out” when I read this story. He uses alliteration and hyperboles to make the reader feel suspenseful and disturbed. Here is an example, “I say, there came to my ears a low, dull, quick sound, such as a watch makes when enveloped in cotton. I knew the sound well, too. It was the beating of the old man’s heart.” This quote uses a creepy simile to compare something to a heartbeat. Edgar Allan Poe also uses spooky vocabulary in this quote. The main character also thinks that he can actually hear someone else’s heartbeat which is FREAKY! Once again, the mood that Edgar Allan Poe creates in “The Tell-Tale Heart” is creepiness and uncomfortableness/disturbing. Poe uses his intense figurative language and vocabulary to evoke the freaky mood.

  10. In Edgar Allan Poe’s ‘The Raven” the mood is sadness. Ways that he set the mood was he made the Raven came as a sign to tell the man that he will never see Lenore again. When he asks a question about her to the Raven the Raven will respond nevermore. “ And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor. Shall be lifted nevermore”! (lines 107 and 108).This quote effected the mood because it shows how sad he is that now he thinks he will never see Lenore again. The mood in “The Raven” by Edgar Allan and Poe is sadness because the character gets so sad that he will never she Lenore again.

  11. Emily Kaufman Poe created a sad mood by showing how much he missed his true love, Annabel Lee when she died and also a love-y mood by explaining when she was gone that their love was still strong. “But our love it was a stranger by far than love of those who were older than we- of those who were wiser than we- and neither the angels in heaven above, nor the demons down under the sea, can ever dissever my soul from the soul of the beautiful Annabel Lee.”(Lines 27-33) This quote is very effective toward the creation of the mood because it shows how strong their love was with each other even though Annabel Lee is gone. The mood of the poem in “Annabel Lee” by Edgar Allan Poe was very sad because it shows how sad Poe is that Annabel Lee is gone and he is very lonely

  13. “The Raven” Marcus Andrade Mod 7

In the poem “The Raven” the mood was an Ominous feeling and it was about a Raven who flew in man/narrator (no name) chamber room and perched on his chamber door, (The Raven Could Talk) he asked the ebony bird to leave and go away, etc. in an eerie way, with rhyme scheme as always with Poe the bird only said, Nevermore. “Then the ebony bird beguiling my sad fancy into smiling, By the grave and stern decorum of the countenance it wore, ‘Though thy crest be shorn and shaven, thou’, I said, ‘art sure no craven, Ghastly grim and ancient Raven only wandering from the Nightly Shore—Tell me why thy lordly name is on the Night’s Plutonian shore ‘Quoth the Raven, ‘Nevermore.”. I think that the narrator is asking questions with rhyme and is giving a mysterious feeling that the Raven is showing when it says Nevermore. The Ominous mood of “The Raven” by Edgar Allan Poe was accomplished by using a Rhyme Scheme in the mysterious parts of the poem.

  14. In the short story “The Tell-Tale Heart” by: Edgar Allan Poe he created the mood of “creepiness”/”darkness”. He created this mood with his very descriptive words that help you imagine what is happening. He also narrated his story in first person which made it creepy because you know what he is thinking and how he is thinking so you know what is going on in his crazy mind. “Oh God! what could I do? I foamed--I raved--I swore! I swung the chair upon which I had been sitting, and grated it upon the boards, but the noise arose over all continually increased. It grew louder--louder--louder--!”(p.5 1st par.). This quote is effective to the mood because it shows how the man is creepy and crazy thinks he hears things but nobody else can. This mode was created by his very descriptive words and his first person narration.

  16. In the short story “Annabel Lee” by: Edgar Allan Poe the mood is very happy and sad. The author made me feel that way because he made the poem (in the beginning) sound so sweet and lovely. The short story showed how much he loved Annabel Lee, until the ending where Annabel Lee dies in a horrible way. In the short story Annabel Lee it says, “The angels, not half so happy in heaven went envy her and me- yes- that was the reason (as all men know, in this kingdom by the sea) The wind came out of the cloud by night, chilling and killing Annabel Lee. But our love it was stronger by far than love, those who were older than we-“. The quote is very affected by the mood because the quote explains how much he loved Annabel Lee. He still went in loving her even after her death. The story was depressing, happy, and sad because of the way Edgar Allan Poe expressed how much he loved Annabel Lee in the short story. He expressed how much he loved her even after her death.

The poem I decided to explore by Edgar Allan Poe was “Annabel

Lee”. While reading this poem my mood/feeling was surprised and sad.

Edgar created this mood /feeling for me by making a fairytale life end

horrible. For example the one girl “he” loved so much that even the angels

in heaven were jealous, was killed by the angels which to me was sad and

surprising. A quote to support my mood from the poem is, “The angels, not

half so happy in heaven, went envying her and me.” lines 21 & 22. “That

the wind came out of the cloud by night, chilling and killing my Annabel

Lee” Lines 25 & 26. “But our love it was stronger by far than the love.” Line

These quotes are effective towards the creation of the mood because

the quote explains how much Annabel Lee and the speaker where so much

in love it even made the angels in heaven jealous [supposedly good

people] killed Annabel Lee.The mood/feeling that i felt while reading

Annabel Lee by Edgar Allan Poe was surprised, while sad.

  18. creepy / weird

    poe created the mood that

i felt while i was reading this poem was creepy / weird because poe would watch and stalk the old man while he sleep night after night after night.

‘’whenever it fell upon me my blood would run cold ; and so by degrees very gradually i made up my mind to take the life of the old man.i believe that this quote is effective to the mood of this poem because he says’’i made up my mind i'm going to take the life of the old man’’.i think that is creepy and weird because you just don't change your mind to kill someone that is so creepy. the mood of the poem the tell-tale heart by Edgar Allan poe is creepy and weird all at the same time.

  19. Edgar Allan Poe mad us feel in the story "The Tale-Tell heart" creepy because the way he described things which when you pictured it in your mind it was pretty disturbing. For example "the night waned, and I worked hastily, but in silence. First of all I dismembered the corpse. I cut off the arms and the legs." this quote make it effective towards the mood because just to imagine a man cutting up another man's head, legs, and arms is just disturbing. In the story "The Tell-Tale Heart" I felt the mood was creepy. The mood was accomplished by using descripted words and making the reader have imagery.

  20. In the poem “Annabel lee” by Edgar Allen Poe the mood is very sad. In the story, far away in a kingdom by sea there lived a girl named Annabel lee and her husband. They liked each other so much that the angels were so jealous of them. The angels decided to send a cloud to chill and kill Annabel Lee to stop their love.
“That the wind came out of the cloud by night, chilling and killing my Annabel lee” lines 26 and 40.
This quote helps me prove the mood and Annabel lees death.
What the author made me feel was sad of Annabel lee’s death. The quote in the novel helps me proof Annabel lees death. In the end Annabel lees was buried in a tomb.
