In the poem “Annabel Lee” by Edgar Allan Poe made me feel sad. The author made me feel this way by expressing feelings in the poem. Also he made the poem feel sad to show what is the mood of the poem. “So that her highborn kinsman came and bore her away from me.” (17-18). “The angels, not half so happy in heaven, went envying her and me.” (21-22). “Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee.” (26). These quotes are effective toward the creation of the mood because it explains how the angels took Annabel Lee away from the narrator. Also it explains how the narrator loves Annabel Lee. In the poem “Annabel Lee” by Edgar Allan Poe made me feel sad. It was accomplished by how the author made the readers feel something about the poem.

  2. Annabel Lee,
In the poem Annabel Lee by Edgar Allan Poe I feel bad for him because he lost the love of his life the way he uses his word is very descriptive that's why felt bad for him he helps you see that the Angels were jealous of him and Annabel Lee so they killed her. (21-26) The angels, not half so happy in heaven, went envying her and me- Yes!-that was the reason (as all know in this kingdom by the sea) that the wind came out of the Claudio that night chilling and killing my Annabel Lee. This quote shows how the angels are jealous of them and made Annabel Lee die they made her die because the wind was chilling her and later on it killed her. That's why in the poem Annabel Lee by Edgar Allan Poe it shows how he was really mad and upset because the Angels have had killed the love of his life Annabel Lee.

The Tale-Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe is a scary short story. Poe created this mood in many ways. A way he did this was he used a lot of figurative language. He had many “spooky” types of speaking which made it even creepier. “It was the beating of the old man`s heart. It increased my fury as the beating of a drum stimulates a soldier into courage.” I believe this quote is scary because it shows that the narrator is mad. He can`t actually hear his heart from so far away. He thinks he can hear it but he is just crazy. Even though he doesnt believe he is crazy, we can tell by the way he tells the story. The Tale-Tell Heart by Edgar Allan Poe is a scary story.

  4. Edgar Allan Poe: Master of Mood

“The Tell-Tale Heart” by Edgar Allan Poe is a very creepy poem/story that is very well written. The story consists of creative figurative language and descriptive imagery that really makes the story come alive. This piece had a mood of creepy and scary, whether it was because of the setting, events, or anything else. Poe created this mood by using a great deal of figurative language like hyperboles that make the story feel more realistic and dramatic. Imagery also helped create this mood because of descriptive writing with lots of repetition that creates an image in the reader’s mind. “He had the eye of a vulture- -a pale blue eye with a film over it. Whenever it fell upon me my blood ran cold,” (stanza 2, line 8). I believe that this quote is effective toward the creation of the mood because it uses imagery and figurative language to be descriptive and create an image in your mind of something creepy. In “The Tell-Tale Heart” by Edgar Allan Poe, the mood of the story was creepy and scary. This mood was created mostly because of the use of figurative language, imagery, and creative description.

In Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Raven” many things happen that give dark and creepy mood to the story. Poe’s poem is very descriptive and it helps the reader feel what’s happening and get into the poem. “Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before; but the silence was unbroken, and the stillness gave no token, and the only word the whisper word, “Lenore?”(Page 1, line 25). This quote is efficient towards the mood. It is because it makes us wonder if someone is down the hall, and what the speaker is thinking, and how long he has been looking down the hall. Edgar Allan Poe wrote “The Raven” and his vivid words and excellent use of imagery helped create the mood.

Edgar Allan Poe created the mood fearful in the short story “The Tell-Tale Heart”. Poe created the mood fearful in “The Tell-Tale Heart” by using figurative language and dashes which slow down the way you read. Also the way he speaks, and the vocabulary he uses and the way he uses it. “It took me an hour to place my whole head within the opening so far that I could him as he lay upon his bed.”(pg.1 line 17-18). I think this quote is effective towards the creation of the mood fearful because he is plotting to kill this man because of his supposed “evil eye” and is putting his head through the door of the old mans room for a week; just to see if the “evil eye” is open; stalking the man before killing him and cutting him up. Edgar Allan Poe the writer of “The Tell-Tale Heart” accomplished the mood fearful by using figurative language and dashes.

In the book “Annabel Lee’’ by Edgar Allan poe has set the mood for a sad poem. He gave the reader a feeling of sadness when you lose somebody. In this poem he always made feeling seem like it was real. He is the master of moods. One quote from the poem is ‘’ the stars never rise but i feel the bright eyes”. This quote is imagery. This symbolize that Annable will never leave his mind and she is in heaven with the angels. Edgar Allan poe wrote a good poem and it deals with the feeling also have someone leave your life is hard. He sums it up by saying that Annabel Lee is in a tomb.

Edgar Allen Poe uses figurative language and imagery to evoke a feeling of saddness and loss in his poem “Anabelle Lee”. Poe was deeply in love with Annabel and they had a perfect love for one another. They had a great relationship and it was so amazing that the angels became jealous. The angels sent a wind to chill Anabelle and to freeze her to death. The line “But we loved with a love that was more than love- I and my Annabel Lee;” (9-10), showed the reader that the love between these two was the most special type of love and it demonstrated how much love and passion they shared. They loved each other more than anybody else had ever loved someone. Edgar Allen Poe was very effective at using descriptive language to describe to loss of a great love in his poem “Anabelle Lee” and this poem has been my favorite poem written by this author.

  9. In the poem “The Tell Tale Heart” Edgar Allan Poe evokes the feeling of being under suspense. He does this by having the narrator visit the old man every night at midnight to check his ‘vulture eye’, he murders the old man, then has the police interview him about the murder. Throughout the poetic piece the reader begins to have plot changing questions such as “Is the narrator going to kill the old man?” or during the interview with the cops, ”Will he confess the murder of the old man?” A quote that contributes to the mood is, “So I opened it~~ you cannot imagine how stealthily, stealthily~~ until at length a simple dim ray, like the thread of a spider, shot out from the crevice and fell full upon the vulture eye,” (p. 2-3). I think this quote is effective toward the creation of the mood because it arises tension and makes the reader think, “What is he going to do now that the eye is open?” The quote above also begins to build up suspense because the narrator is taking his time carefully explaining every little detail making the readers mind go crazy about what the climax will be. “The Tell Tale Heart” by Edgar Allan Poe has the mood of suspense. The midnight visits; the murder, and the interview with the policemen are all events that cause the reader to be under suspense.

In the poem "The Tell Tale Heart" by Edgar Allen Poe.Poe created a creepy felling by stalking the old man. "I was never kinder to the old man then in the week that i was killing him". I think its creepy because he stalked the old man for several days and succeeded killing the old man. I think that he was trying to create a creepy feeling and he accomplished it.

The poem, The Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe, shows many moods. In my opinion, it shows moods of scariness, creepiness and disturbing. Edgar Allan Poe created this feeling in many different ways. First thing was the way he evoked the figurative language and the wording or vocabulary he used in the poem. Poe used the five senses but mostly used sight, touch, hear and smell. He also wrote the poem in first person and used a unique way of writing. He used dashes, repetition and imagery. Poe also wrote with a lot of alliteration, metaphors and more. “All in vain, because Death, in approaching him had stalked with his black shadow before him, and enveloped the victim.” I believed this quote is so effective towards the mood because it shows a scary thought from the character. It says that “Death” is coming opon a man as if “Death” is a human with a name and that it is waiting, looking at him until it makes the man a victim. The mood of the poem , The Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe, evokes moods of scary, creepy and disturbing that was accomplished in a very unique way that was very interesting and popular.

The mood in the "Tell-Tale Heart" by Edgar Allen Poe is creepy and scarey. It gave me the creeps because he tells you how he is going to kill in detail the old man. My quote is "He had the eye of a vulture." (Page 1) He describes the old mans pale blue, with a film over it. The quote is so effective because it makes you feel like the old man is really spying or watching with his evil eye. The "Tell-Tale Heart" by Edgar Allen Poe uses his descriptive writing to make you feel scared.

  13. Edgar Allen Poe uses figurative language to make you feel a creepy and disturbing mood in “The Tell Tale Heart.” In the short story, he describes how he hates an old man’s eye, which looks like the eye of a vulture. He describes how he watched, or as I call it, “stalked” the man every night for 7 nights, looking to see the vulture eye. In the morning, he meets the old man casually, and acts like nothing happened the previous night. On the 8th night, he gets so freaked out, he killed the old man and cut him up so he could hide him. The police come and, he tries to act casual, but he gets overwhelmed because he thinks he hears the old man’s heart beat, so he confesses and ends the story, making us wonder what happens next. I think the creepiest part is when he stalks the man. “And I did this for seven long nights, every night, just at midnight—but I found the eye always closed” (page1, lines 21 and 22). It is really creepy how he watches the man each night. He keeps saying, “You fancy me mad”, and trying to show that he is not mad with the careful moves, when he clearly is bonkers. It makes you disturbed at how he just looks at the man, while he is sleeping. Wouldn’t you feel disturbed if someone was doing that to you every night? “The Tell Tale Heart” by Edgar Allen Poe is a creepy/disturbing short story. Poe used figurative language and actions like the stalking of 7 whole nights. He is really a genius!

  15. This poem is by Edgar Allan Poe and it is called Annabel Lee. This poem makes me feel sad. Well he made it sound like him and Annabel had a great love and then the angels in heaven took her with the wind and killed her. “But we loved with a love that was more than love – I and my Annabel Lee” (Line 9 and 10). “Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee”(Line 26). Those quotes tell you that they had a strong love and then someone killed Annabel Lee. This is a sad poem. The poem is called “Annabel Lee” By: Edgar Allan Poe.

  16. The mood in Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe is disturbing. I identified this as the mood because Poe is disturbing many times in this poem. He says and does things that “normal” people wouldn’t do or even think about doing. “All in vain; because death, in approaching him had stalked with his black shadow before him, and enveloped the victim.” (personification). I believe that quote is so effective towards the creation of the mood because the poem “talks” about being stalked and “talks” about death. In my opinion, Tell-Tale Heart is a disturbing poem.

  17. The mood in the Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe is frustration. I thought this was the mood because he sounds angry at the fact that he thinks we think he is crazy. He always refers to how sanely he killed the man and that he isn't mad at all. The " eye "was supposedly following him wherever he went . He was frustrated the whole time so I thought his mood was frustration.
