The main idea of The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is that Childhood is a beautiful and new experience. The Outsiders is about two groups of kids. The Greasers and the Socs. The Socs are the rich kids who live on the west side of town and like to bully Greasers and beat them up. The Greasers live on the east side and are less wealthy and always smoke and wear leather jackets and jeans. Ponyboy and his friend Johnny who are Greasers. They get beat up by some Socs at a playground. Johnny ends up killing a Soc named Bob who was drowning Ponyboy in a fountain. They get away to Windrixville and go to an old abandoned church. One day they go away to get food with their friend Dally and when they come back, the church is on fire! There were kids having a picnic and got stuck inside the church. Johnny, Ponyboy, ad Dally try to save them. Johnny gets burned and breaks back because a piece of wood fell on him. At a hospital Johnny dies and Ponyboy is sad. Ponyboy ends up finding a letter from Johnny and reads it. “…you’re gold when you’re a kid, like green. When you’re a kid everything’s new, dawn.”, (178). This quote shows that when you’re a kid everything is new a young. This causes Ponyboy to write a theme that is the entire novel. That is why I think that this is the theme.

The central idea of The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is that what’s on the inside isn’t the same as what’s on the outside. Ponyboy lives in a suburban town on the east side with his brothers and the rest of his gang, the ‘greasers’. The greasers are tough, almost like the hood, but Ponyboy is different. Pony is the only one in the group that likes to read, go to the movies, or watch sunsets. On the other side of town are the Socs, or Socials, the greasers’ enemies. After getting jumped by Socs too much, Pony’s buddy, Johnny, ends up killing one. They go on the run by themselves and leave town to hide away in an old abandoned church. Dally, another greaser, helps them out with everything. One day, when they got back from a meal, the church was on fire, also surrounded by screaming children. Pony, Johnny and Dally helped save the kids that were trapped inside, but Johnny got a broken back and some pretty bad burns. Dally and Ponyboy made it out fine, but Johnny barely made it out alive. “And nobody in our gang digs movies and books the way I do. For a while there, I thought I was the only person in the world that did,” (2). This quote shows that Ponyboy is different on the inside. He has a reputation for being all tough and mean, but he really is sensitive on the inside. In the end, Johnny dies. But Dally couldn’t take the loss, so he got himself killed too. Johnny had said that it was worth saving the kids, they had more life to live. Johnny and Dally also had a soft spot on the inside, even though they were greasers. This novel reminds us that what’s on the outside is not the same as what’s on the inside.

The theme of The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is that be who you are and dont be someone else. Ponyboy is a young adult who lives with his brothers Soda and Darry. Ponyboy keeps his feelings in the inside like generous, kind and sensitive, but on the outside he is mean, tough and macho. Ponyboy lives in Oklahoma. Ponyboy and his friends/brothers are greasers and theres another group called the socs. The greasers and the socs are always in fights. Then Cherry a soc helps Ponyboy and Johnnya greaser out of trouble because Johnny killed Bob a soc. When Johnny dies Ponyboy realizes that he has to fix things and do what he is suppose to do for Johnny. “ Remembering-and this time it didn´t hurt- a quiet, defeated-looking sixteen-year-old whose hair needed cutting badly and who had black eyes with a frightened expression to them”(180). This quote shows that Ponyboy is changing into who he is and not someone he is not. He reads a note Johnny wrote for him that inspires him to follow his dreams for Johnny. This novel reminds me that be who you are and dont be someone else.

I think that the theme of The Outsiders is to stay loyal to you and your friends. Ponyboy Curtis is part of a gang called the Greasers in the book. They are always getting into fights with another social group called the Socs. Whenever one of the Greasers gets attacked, the rest of the gang comes and helps them out. The Greasers are like family. They stick together and stay loyal to each other. Ponyboy also tries to stay loyal to himself. On the outside he is tough won’t back down, but on the inside he is sensitive and caring. “The clouds changed from gray to pink, and the mist was touched with gold.” (pg. 77) This quote shows that Ponyboy is sensitive to things. He enjoys watching the sun rise and thinks that it’s beautiful. The Outsiders teaches a great lesson. It says to stay loyal to you and your friends.

Sorry I hit the publish button by accident.

They decide to go into the church & save the kids inside. They save them, but injure themselves in the process. Pony & Dally are ok, but things take a turn for the worse for Johnny. The three brothers stick together with everything & stick up for each other when necessary. "We're all cried out now. We're getting' used to the idea. We're gonna be okay now." (75) This quote shows that life can be hard sometimes & that the person on the outside can be much different than on the inside. That is the theme of The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton.

The theme of “The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is that friendship can change a persons life. Ponyboy is fourteen years old; he lives with his two older brothers Sodapop and Darry. Ponyboy is a greaser in a gang with misfit boys who aren’t really that bad. When things go south for Ponyboy he and Johnny Cade one of Ponyboy’s best friends have to run and hide from the police. Ponyboy learns the true meaning of friendship when he and Johnny live in an abandoned church for five days hiding. Now Ponyboy’s life will never be the same. “Get out!” I leaped out the window and heard timber crashing and the flames roaring right behind me. I staggered, almost falling, coughing and sobbing for breath. Then I heard Johnny scream, and as I turned to go back for him, Dally swore at me and clubbed me across the back as hard as he could, and I went down into a peaceful darkness, (93). This quote shows that Johnny cared about Ponyboy so he said, “Get out!” and ended up getting his back broken because he wanted to save Ponyboy. As you can see friendship can change a persons life in many ways.

The theme of The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is that friends and family stick together no matter what. Ponyboy and his brothers Darry and Sodapop all have to take care of themselves and each other after their parents had died in a car accident. One night, the Socs Bob and Randy jumped Ponyboy and his friend Johnny. In an act of self-defense, Johnny killed Bob. Ponyboy and Johnny had to leave the scene to get ahead of the cops. Ponyboy and Johnny hid in an old abandoned church where him and Johnny make a stronger friendship and comfort each other. “He slumped down beside me. I didn’t mean it like that, Ponyboy. Don’t cry Pony, we’ll be okay. Don’t cry (74-75)…” This quote shows that Johnny is comforting Ponyboy after he started crying because of the big problem him and Johnny were in. This novel is a reminder that friends and family stick together no matter what.

The theme of The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is you should enjoy your childhood while it lasts because it is beautiful. The Outsiders is about two groups, the Greasers and the Socs. The Greasers are poor, rob stores, smokes, and drives souped up cars. The Socs are wealthy kids who drive madras, jump Greasers, and wreck houses. The Greasers are more tough than Socs but not Ponyboy and Johnny. Once, Ponyboy and Johnny got jumped by the Socs and as one of them were drowning Ponyboy, Johnny unexpectedly pulls out a switchblade and kills Bob, one of the Socs. Dally, their friend, helps them get away by sending them to an abandoned church in Windrixville. After a long time of waiting, Dally comes back and takes them out to eat. On the way back they see that the church is on fire and there are students from a school playing inside. Ponyboy, Johnny, and Dally go in to save the kids. In the end none of the kids get hurt and neither do Ponyboy or Dally but Johnny is severely injured. Johnny has a broken back and many burns and ends up dying in the hospital. This changes Ponyboys feelings and makes him sad. Ponyboy picks up Gone With the Wind to read when a note falls out. Ponyboy picked up the note and it said, “I’ve been thinking about it, and that poem, that guy that wrote it, he meant you’re gold when you’re a kid, like green. When you’re a kid everything’s new, dawn. It’s just when you get used to everything that it’s day. Like the way you dig sunsets, Pony,”(178). This quote shows that you should enjoy your childhood while everything is new and beautiful because that goes away as you get older. This is why I believe the theme is to enjoy your childhood while it lasts.

The theme of The Outsiders By S.E. Hinton is that when someone passes on in life it doesn't mean to stop living. The Greasers were all best friends but the Socs were their enemies. But one day the Greasers got into a really bad fight with the Socs and one of the Greasers (Johnny) killed one of the Socs (Bob). After that happens Johnny and Ponyboy run away and they both hide in a very old church. Days passed by until one day the church set on fire with children inside. Johnny and Ponyboy saved the children with no one getting hurt except for Johnny. They rushed to the hospital but also being thanked by the people in the town. Johnny eventually dies and the gang (Greasers) was very upset, especially Ponyboy. Ponyboy becomes depressed and he becomes very bad in school. Until Ponyboy finds a letter from johnny before he died saying to never give up, and thats when Ponyboy becomes happier. "And then i remembered. Dallas and Johnny were dead. Don't think of them i thought. Don't remember how johnny was your buddy, don't remember that he didn't want to die. Don't think of dally breaking up in the hospital, crumpling under the street light, try to think that Johnny is better off now, try to remember that Daly would have ended up like this sooner or later. Best of all, don't think. Blank your mind. Dont remember. Don't remember". (156/157) This quote shows that Ponyboy lost someone that he cared for very much and he became very sad for that moment until he understood that johnny was gone. Ponyboy now knows that life is going to become better without being depressed because he knows now that everyone needs to pass away one day.

  10. The Outsiders CQE

The theme of The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is that it doesn’t matter how much money you have (social class), all people should be treated equal and in many ways, but people are still separated by different traits and stereotypes. In some ways they are different, but in the end they are the same and equal. In The Outsiders, there are greasers and socs, where the greasers are poor and the socs have a lot of money. These two groups constantly fight in rumbles or jump each other. They have had a deep hatred for each other for a long time, but it was getting nowhere because fighting would not change their reputation or amount of money. The greasers meet the socs at a drive-in movie and were talking, then realizing that they were not so different after all. A soc named Cherry was talking with a greaser named Ponyboy, and that was when Ponyboy realized it. “We aren’t in the same class. Just don’t forget that some of us watch the sunset too,” (46). This quote shows that both the greasers and the socs have things in common. In this case, they both like to watch sunsets, and when Cherry said that, Ponyboy realized the difference between them was not as great as he thought. The quote shows that they believe people should be equal, but because of rumors and reputation, they are considered very different. I believe that the author is trying to show that you and other people believe that money is separating social classes, but the author believes that it is emotion and internal things that differ from different social classes. I think that the theme of The Outsiders is that no matter how much money you have, how nice your house is, or what you have, all people are equal internally.

The theme of The Outsiders by S.E.Hinton is about being yourself. Ponyboy is a young 14 year old boy. He lives with his two brothers Darry and Sodapop. Pomyboy is a greaser and so is his brothers. He has a crew who are also greasers.Ponyboy lives in a bad town where there is a rivalry between the Greasers and the Soc's. He and his older brothers take care of him since their parents passed away. Pony and his friend get into a fight with the Soc's one night at the park because the Soc's had been drinking too much. His friend, Johnny, stabs one of them to prevent them from drowning Pony boy in the fountain. They then have to leave town and live in a old abandoned church. One day, a fire starts in the church while a group of students is taking a field trip to it. Pony and Johnny, heroically rescue the students from the flames, but it crashes down on Johnny. He eventually passes away in the hospital. Dally, one of the greasers, is overcome with grief, and he robs a grocery store. He flees the police and calls the gang from a telephone booth, asking them to pick him up in the vacant lot and take him to a hiding place. The police chase Dally to the lot, and as the gang watches, Dally pulls a "black object" from his waistband and the officers shoot him."Suddenly it wasn´t any personal thing to me. I could picture hundreds and hundreds of boys living on the wrong sides of cities, boys with black eyes who jumped at their own shadows."(179)This qoute shows shows that Ponyboy is picturing hundreds and hundreds of boys with black eyes that show he is picturing who he really is. This novel shows that you can be yourself.

  12. The main idea of The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is that wealth and looks don't make up your personality. The Outsiders by S.E. HInton is about a 14 year old named Ponyboy who is classified as what people in his scociety a 'greaser'. Greasers are people who are poor and were a lot of grease in their hair and they usually get into fights with what scociety calls 'Soc's' which stands for socials. When Ponyboys friend Johnny who was once beat up really badly kills a Soc, Ponny and Johnny go hide in a church. While in the church. Ponys brothers are worried sick about him, (Ponyboys parents died when Ponyboy was younger). While in the process of writing an english paper so he doesnt fail the class, Ponyboy realizes that your wealth and looks aren't what classify your personality. "...Then mabe people would understand and wouldn't be so quick to judge a boy by the amount of hir oil he wore"(179).This quote shows that you shouldn't judge people by looks or welth. As you can see, you shouldn't judge people by your first glance at them you shoulld judge them by their personality.

The theme of The Outsider by S.E Hinton is that we may not be in the same social level which could make a difference to some people but really in the inside we all have thing in common. In the novel The Outsiders, Ponyboy and the rest of the greasers went to Nightly Double and Dally was bothering some girls who were socs. Johnny deiced to stand up to Dally. Which caused Dally to be surprised and decided to leave. The girls were impressed and wanted Ponyboy and Johnny to "protect" them from anyone else. They started to talk and realize that they had a lot in common. For example in pg. 37 it says "they liked the Beatles and thought Elvis Presley was out, and we thought the Beatles were rank and that Elvis was tuff.". This quote shows that the socs and the Greaser do have things in common. Just because the socs have more money than the Greasers, they have many things in common because they are human and they will have things in common. This just proves that no matter what social class you are you can have things in common.

  14. The theme of The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is that all good things must come to an end. Ponyboy is known as a greaser, him and his gang. The Socs hate the greasers and are always jumping them. When Ponyboy and another greaser, Johnny, get jumped by a Soc, Johnny ends up killing the Soc with his pocket knife. Ponyboy and Johnny decide to run away with the help of another greaser, Dally, and stayed at an abandoned church. On day,the church catches on fire when there are children inside. Ponyboy, Johnny, and Dally ran inside the church to save the kids. Before johnny can make it out, a large piece of wood on fire fell on him. After that, Johnny went to the hospital and soon died. When Ponyboy was looking at the book him and Johnny used to read in the church, a slip of paper fell out and Ponyboy found a letter from Johnny. “I've been thinking about it, and that poem, that guy that wrote it, he meant you're gold when you're a kid, like green. When you're a kid everything's new, dawn. Like the way you dig sunsets, Pony. That's gold” (178). This quote means that Johnny wanted Ponyboy to stay young and take advantage of his youth before he grows old. He means that you only have one shot at being young and that Ponyboy shouldn't just throw it away. Pony listens to Johnny note and takes the advantage of 'staying gold' by first sharing his story with the world, starting with his English teacher.

  15. Emily Kaufman English Mod 7 The theme of “The outsider’s” by S.E. Hinton is that Nothing gold can stay. Ponyboy Curtis was a teenage boy that lived with his two older brothers Sodapop and Darry and are in a gang with other greasers Johnny, Dally, Twobit, and Shepard. There were two groups of people based on how rich you were. The gresears were the group with the greasy long hair, cool attitudes, and were poor. The socs were the other group with the snotty attitudes, no worries, and were rich. One night Ponyboy and Johnny ran away from home and went to the park to let their stress out. Then a gang of socs showed up in a blue mustang in the greaser’s territory. The socs jumped Johnny and Pony. While they were drowning Pony in the park fountain, Johnny tried to save him by killing the soc named Bob that was the on droning him. Pony and Johnny hid in an old abandon church that Dally told them to hide in to not get caught for killing Bob. When Dally picked them up one day to go out to lunch, they found the church on fire with children trapped inside. Pony, Johnny, and Dally help save all the kids in the church, and were named heroes. After that, Johnny dies from the fire. Before Johnny passed away, he wrote Pony a letter. He said many wonderful things about how to stay true to yourself. “Its just when you used to everything that its day. Like the way you dig sunsets, Pony. That’s gold. Keep that way; it’s a good way to be. I want you to tell Dally to look at one. He’ll probably think you’re crazy, but ask for me. I don’t think he’s ever seen a real sunset. And don’t be so bugged over being a greaser. You still have a lot of time to make yourself be what you want. There’s still lots of good in the world.” (178-179) This quote explains that Johnny is trying to tell Ponyboy that there are still lots of good in the world and to not worry about being a greaser and to stay true to himself. Also to not let anyone define Pony of the person he truly is because the only one that gets to define Pony is Pony, only Pony.

The theme of the Outsiders by S. E. Hinton is friendship. Ponyboy and Johnny went to a drive in movie theater. Then after they fell asleep in the lot. They went home and Darry hit Pony so they ran away. They run into bigger problems with the socs, Bob tries to drown Pony. Then Ponyboy blacked out. He woke up with Johnny next to him, Johnny killed Bob! They ran away to Alabama and hid out in an abandoned church. One day they went out of the church, when they came back it was on fire. There were even kids in the fire. So they saved them. Johnny got hurt. He broke his back and was burned really bad. At the hospital his last words were to Pony: " Stay gold Ponyboy, Stay gold (pg148)." This shows that friends at hard times can stay together.

  17. The central idea or theme of the Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is that there is still good in the world and that we should appreciate it while its there. Ponyboy is a 14 year old boy and is considered a "greaser". He loves with his two brothers Soda and Darry in a house by themselves. Their parents died in a car accident a few years ago. They spent their entire lives with their gang of "greasers", avoiding the Socs, a richer class of kids. They were all fine until one day, Pony & Johnny were jumped by Socs. When they took it too far, Johnny ended up killing a Soc named bob in self-defense. They went to their friend Dally for help and got money, a gun, and directions to an od, abandoned church to hide out. They cut their hair to disguise their identities. one day, Dally came to visit them and when they got back to the church it was surrounded by people. A couple of kids ended up playing around in the church and accidently lit it on fire. Johnny and Pony voluntarily went in to get the trapped children out. They both injured themselves, getting the children out safely. Johnny ended up dying because of his injuries. Dally was so sad that Johnny died, that he committed suicide. Ponyboy ended up being innocent and his gang of "greasers" tried to carry on with their lives without Dally and Johnny. Maybe these guys aren't so bad after all! "Like the way you dig sunsets Pony. That's gold. keep it that way, its a great way to be". (Page 178)This tells us that the way Pony is, is good and that big, tough people like "greasers and Socs" may nice and soft on the inside. Maybe they even watch sunsets too! This novel tells us that is still good in the world and that we should appreciate the good days and learn fro the bad ones!

  18. The theme of The Outsider by S.E.Hinton is that it is ok to be who you are on the inside not on the outside. After Ponyboys parents died Pony became more quiet and kept to himself a lot. But once he me t Cherry a Soc who had a lot in common with him like they both really enjoyed watching sunsets he found out that it was really easy to open up and talk about himself and his feeling to her."I don't know how I can talk to her; maybe for the same reason she can talk to me"(39) This quote shows that ponyboy is opening up to Cherry and telling her personal things that her normally would not tell anyone. As you can see it is ok to be who you are on the inside not on the outside.

The theme of The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is stay loyal to your friends because you will never know when you will need them most. Ponyboy, Johnny, Steve, Two-Bit, Darry, Dally and Soda are all in a gang in Western U.S. In their town there are two different social groups; the Socs (rich, upper-class kids) and the Greasers (poor, dangerous kids). The Socs and Greasers fight all the time and one night things went too far. Johnny ended up killing a Soc for protection and running away with Ponyboy. “You ought to go home. You can’t get into any trouble. You didn’t kill him.” “NO! I screamed at him. I’m fourteen! I’ve been fourteen for a month! And I’m in it as much as you are” (74). This quote shows that Ponyboy left home and risked going to jail just to support Johnny. Ponyboy wanted to help his buddy through tough times even if it meant he could go to jail. As the novel goes on, Johnny and Ponyboy help each other. When Johnny dies Ponyboy is in shock. When Randy comes to talk to Ponyboy, he tells Randy that he killed the Soc and that it was all his fault, but Randy does not believe him. He stuck by his buddy even after he died. That’s what I call true friendship. This novel makes us realize that staying loyal to your friends throughout your life is a very important aspect of life because you will never know when you will need your friends most.

The theme of The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is about friendship. This Book is about two gangs from different sides of town. Socs have money and Greasers are on the poor side. Ponyboy and Johnny are two greasers that get into a fight with some Socs. Johnny ends up killing a Soc named Bob. Randy who is a Soc goes to speak with Pony about Bob. On page 117 Pony says, "You would have saved those kids if you had been there," I said. "You'd have saved them the same as we did." This quote shows that Pony believed there Randy was a good person even if he was a Soc. My conclusion is that people are not that different even if they are from different backgrounds.

The theme of The Outsiders by: S.E. Hinton is to keep good friendships and stick with your friends and family so you can count on them. Ponyboy and his brothers Soda pop and Darry are greasers, so are there friends Johnny and Dally. Greasers and Soc’s do not get along because the Soc’s think that since they have more money they are better and more stuff then the greasers. Greasers are the people with a lot of gel in their hair, wearing black leather jackets, and are all tuff and don’t have as mucg money or stuff as the Soc’s. But one day Ponyboy and Johnny ran into trouble with soc’s, who were drunk, and Bob cherry’s boyfriend. Cherry who they were hanging out with before this. Bob started drowning pony in a water fountain and Johnny this shy greaser killed Bob with a switch blade. So the pony and Johnny ran away to and abandoned church where Dally told them to go and he also gave them some money and a gun. Then one day they left and came back to the church and saw it on fire and pony and Johnny went in to save the children in the building and Johnny was severely injured so they brought him to a hospital and to the day he day he was there till he died thy all stuck together. “Stay gold Ponyboy, Stay gold (p.148).” This shows that friends even if they go through hard times can stick together. Friendship is important and even through ups and downs you should stick with your good friendships.

The theme of The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is friendship and loyalty. There are two gangs the Socs and the Greasers. Cherry Valance is a Soc and seems to want to be friends with Ponyboy. Ponyboy and Johnny who are friends and Greasers get into a fight with Bob who is a Soc. they end up killing Bob. They go into hiding bit a fire happens and they rescue children. This sends Johnny to the hospital and Ponyboy home. Cherry goes to talk to Pony, she says, "I wasn't trying to give you charity, Ponyboy. I only wanted to help. I liked you from the start...the way you talked. You're a nice kid, Ponyboy. Do you realize how scarce nice kids are nowadays? Wouldn't you try to help me if you could?" The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton was that you don’t judge a book by its cover. It’s don’t judge a book by its cover because when Johnny kills Bob everyone (even before then) think all greasers are bad, but Pony boy, Johnny, and Dally save children from a burning church. On page 93, Dally, Johnny, and Pony boy helped save the children. “I picked up a kid, and he promptly bit me, but I leaned out the window and dropped him as gently as I could, being in a hurry like that. A crowd was there by that time. Dally was standing there, and when he saw me he screamed, for Pete’s sake, get outa there! That’s roof gonna cave in any minute”. This quote shows the theme because they didn’t want to hurt anyone that’s why they saved the children and risked their own lives to help them. These are the reasons I think the theme is don’t judge a book by its cover.

The theme of The Outsiders written by S.E Hinton is that you should be who you are and not who someone wants you to be or thinks you are. Ponyboy Curtis is a 14 year old boy, who is a Greaser. He lives with his older brothers Darry and Soda. After Pony’s parents died in a car crash he becomes quieter and spends more time reading alone. Once he met Cherry Valence he opened up and felt comfortable opening up. Before he kept everything in and only open up to his friend Johnny, who is also a Greaser. Ponyboy let everything out to his brothers after Johnny had died, and accepted the truth for himself. “I don’t know why I could talk to her; maybe for the same reason she could talk to me.”(39). This quote shows theme because Ponyboy is keeping everything inside and not being himself. But when he met Cherry Valence he could talk and open up to her, and also be himself. The theme of The Outsiders is you should be who you are and not who people want you to be and who they think you are because Ponyboy had trouble being himself until he starts opening up to people.

The theme of “The Outsiders” by S.E Hinton is about being yourself. Ponyboy was the main character in the outsiders. He was a greaser. Greasers are supposed to be tough, usually juvenile delinquents, and are “bad news”. Ponyboy wasn’t like that. He enjoyed watching sunsets, and reading books. He also got good grades. Ponyboy never has been to jail or has never been bad news. Ponyboy was bothered about being a greaser because everyone thought greasers were bad, Ponyboy wasn’t. Ponyboy was also sensitive and misunderstood by his big brother Darry, who always screams at him for “not using his head”. Greasers were supposed to be tough and always got their point through to someone. In the book, Ponyboy busted the end of is bottle and held it to a soc’s neck. Ponyboy wasn’t violent. In other words he wasn’t being himself. In the book it states. “You really would have used that bottle, wouldn’t you?” “I guess so” “Ponyboy, listen don’t get tough. You’re not like the rest of us and don’t try to be…” “Picking up glass…I didn’t want anyone to get a flat tire.” (171-172). In the book it also states, “ Like the way you dig sunsets, Pony. That’s gold. Keep it that way, it’s a good way to be…And don’t be so bugged over being a greaser. You still have a lot of time to make yourself be what you want.” (178-179). My first quote shows that you shouldn’t be something you’re not, like Pony. He’s sensitive but started to act tough. My second quote shows not to worry what others think, just be yourself. This novel reminds us that you should

The theme of The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is to be yourself, even though your surroundings might not be the same as you or disagree with who you are. Ponyboy and his brothers Darry and Sodapop just experienced a lost from their parents. It is time for the Curtis brothers to grow up and learn to take care of theme selves. Ponyboy lives in a town where being “tuff” is everything. His community is split in half. One half is called the “greasers” (the poor and hood like kids) like the Curtis brothers, and the others are considered as the “Socs” or the (west side rich kids). Ponyboy is not like all greasers. He loves school, reads books, and is a sensitive boy who doesn’t agree with fights. At the end of the novel when Johnny died, Ponyboy is thinking about what his theme should be based on. He finally realizes that he doesn’t have to think about it so much. He finds out that he truly is, a “greaser” and that’s not a bad thing. Johnny says in the letter that he wrote to him, “And don’t be so bugged over being a greaser. You still have a lot of time to make yourself be what you want. There’s still lots of good in the world,” (179). This quote means that even though you are something that other people do not like or agree with, it’s who you are and you don’t have to change unless you want to, not what others want you to do. This novel states that even though you aren’t the coolest person ever, you don’t have to change to become someone better or more popular. Being your self is being cool.

In the outsiders by S.E. Hinton is all about how a gang of boys go through tough times tougher. These 6 boys: Darry, Dally, Johnny, Two-bit, and Ponyboy who are the best of friends. These boys would do anything for each other and stick by one another. Even if that meant getting in a fight with someone/something. Because they are greasers doesn’t mean there not nice to one and another. Greasers are the tough mean looking people that were judged as “bad”. They didn’t really call them self a gang to them it was just some friends looking for not trouble well maybe a little. Ponyboy is the main character who is smart in school but not street smart which he needs to be because he’s greaser. Ponyboy is the youngest and smallest of the gang the whole gang thinks of him as his little brother and tries to make his life better for him. Darry and sodapop who are just young adults them self take care and love pony as there kid not there brother. “And he had given up a lot for me” this means that he or Darry had giving up a lot for pony to have a good life that was not as hard as theirs. Thats what I think the outsiders is all about.

    Outsiders Paragraph

The theme of the book the book The Outsiders is you will always have family and friends to fall back on and friendship will change the ways that you think of life. Darry runs the house because his parents died two years earlier in a car crash. One day they got jumped by the other gang called Socs. This fight went to far though and Johnny ended up killing Bob,a soc. Ponyboy and Johnny went to Dally for help. Dally gave them a gun, money, and directions to a abandoned church. The theme of the Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is that some people could live in the same area and be the same age and even go to the same school, but have entirely different lives. The story tells about the Socs, or the rich kids and the Greasers, or the poor tough kids and how they live together. There is always huge fights between the two groups, and one night a fight gets out of control and a Soc is killed. The Greasers run and hide out from the Police and they are injured when the place they are hiding in catches fire. Ponyboy, a greaser has a hard time figuring out why they hate each other so much. He talks to a Soc girl named Cherry about it. “It seemed funny to me that the sunset she saw from her patio and the one I saw from the back steps was the same one. Maybe the two worlds that we lived in weren’t so different. We saw the same sunset.” (40,41) This shows how the even though the Socs and the Greasers live entirely different lives, they are the same people deep down.

The theme of The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is to embrace and appreciate what you have so you can live through the bad times. In the book, the boys Ponyboy, Johnny, Two-bit, Sodapop, Darry and Dally are all family. Ponyboy and Sodapop are real brothers and their parents died at a very young age. The time they have a with their parents were very valuable to them. They had to grow up faster than usual to fit in with their social group called the greasers. The greasers enemy are the socs. They are a rich group of people that live on the west side with big houses while the greasers live on the east side with small houses. By the greasers growing up fast they had to give up what they had been kids. Later in the book the family gets broken up when Johnny and Darry die. "Stay gold, Ponyboy. Stay gold"' (p148). This quote shows When he says stay gold to remember that everything is gold when it is new and he wants everyone to stay young and embrace your life for bad times in life. This book tells you to love and appreciate what you have because when you grow up you might not have it.

The theme of the Outsiders by S.E.Hinton is to be yourself and not someone else. There are 2 different kinds of people in this book the Greasers and the Socs. Socs beat up Greasers. The Socs jumped Johnny (a Greaser). Then they jumped Johnny again and Ponyboy. Johnny killed one of the Socs. “You really killed him, huh, Johnny?” (pg.57). Johnny is a sweet guy who would never kill anyone, but he wanted to be more like Dally. So he became a tough guy. The theme here is to be yourself and not someone else.

  33. The theme of The outsiders by S.E Hinton is that you have to be yourself. The greasers are known for being tough and "bad news". Ponyboy is different. He like to read books, learn and watch sunsets. His brother Sodapop dropped out of school and works at a gas station. His oldest brother Darry work to long and hard to be interested in a story or drawing a picture. "I'm not like them",(2). “ Like the way you dig sunsets, Pony. That’s gold. Keep it that way, it’s a good way to be…And don’t be so bugged over being a greaser. You still have a lot of time to make yourself be what you want.” (178-179). 34. The theme of The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is that you choose what you want to be and not to let others make the decision for you. The main character, Ponyboy Curtis is part of a gang called the ‘Greasers”, who are like hoods, but Ponyboy is different. He is smart, likes books, and digs/watches sunsets. The Greasers are constantly under the threat of being jumped by the Socs, or Socials, their rivals. His friend, Johnny kills a Socs to save Ponyboy, and then they run away to an old abandoned church. When their friend Dally takes them out for breakfast they come back to find the church burning and children inside. Ponyboy and Johnny rush in and save them, but Johnny get hit in the back by a fallen beam. He is in the hospital while the Greasers and the Socs fight. Then he dies, and Dally kills himself from grief. Ponyboy receives a letter from Johnny saying, “’you still have a lot of time to make yourself who you want”’ (150). Johnny meant that Ponyboy can be what he wants. Johnny choose to rush in the burning church to save the children knowing the risks. Ponyboy choose to go also. Johnny shows that Ponyboy can choose what to do. The Outsiders shows us that we can shape/choose our destiny. So choose well.

What this novel is about is there is this boy name Ponyboy and he is a greaser and the greasers are bad. He has two older brothers named Sodapop and Darry. Sodapop dropped out of school and he has a job at the gas station. Darry did not drop out of school but he does not have a job he works very hard to take care of Sodapop and Ponyboy.

The theme of The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is that standing up for yourself can change your life for the good or worse. Ponyboy is a "greaser", a juvenile delinquent/hood that likes to grease their hair. Greasers are in a war with the Socials(Socs), a group of rich kids who like to beat greasers up. Pony boy does well in school and hangs out with his gang of greasers out of school. His life changes when his friend Johnny kills a Soc when they are attacked. They are forced to run away from the city. "We were really running away, with the police after us for murder and a loaded gun by our side,"(62). This quote shows that Ponyboy and Johnny's lives are about to change into a bad life of a criminal. This novel reminds us that standing up for yourself can change your life.

The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is the story about two very different groups of people. On one side, there are the Greasers. They are the poor people considered to be from the wrong side of town. “We’re poorer than the socs and the middle class….greasers are almost like hoods.” (p. 3). The other group is known as the Socs. They are wealthy and consider themselves to be better that everyone else. “It’s the abbreviation for the Socials, the jet set, the west-side rich kids.” (p. 2) .

These stereotypes causes the main theme, “Don’t judge a book by its cover,” to develop. On one side, there is a Greaser named Ponyboy Curtis. By appearances, he looks rough and tough and probably not very smart. However, this is not true at all because he loves movies, books, poetry, and cares about school. This makes him feel different that the others in his group. From the Socs, Cherry tells Ponyboy at the drive in, “I’ll bet you think the Socs have it made. The rich kids, the West-side Socs. I’ll tell you something, Ponyboy, and it may come as a surprise. We have troubles you’ve never even heard of. You want to know something…things are rough all over.” (p. 34-35). Just because someone has more money, people might think they have no problems but this is not true. Cherry doesn’t judge Ponyboy by his appearance. She looks past his stereotype and shows how the book’s theme, “Don’t judge a book by its cover,” is absolutely true because she isn’t doing that.

    The Outsiders
The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is about the importance of not judging people on how they look and appear on the outside; instead it is what’s inside and their personality that really matters. The story opens with Pony coming home from the movie theater. While he is walking home, he gives us a description of his life. There are two main groups at his school and in his town: the Socs are the rich, popular kids, who live on the West side of town; and the Greasers are poor, unpopular kids, who live on the East side and get into lots of trouble with the law. Pony goes to the movies with two friends from his gang. When they get to the movies the theater is empty except for two girls. Pony and Johnny are nice to them and are invited to sit with them. As they get introduced to each other, they discover that the girls are Socs and that their names are Cherry and Marcia. Through their conversation, they learn that not all Socs are mean and that Cherry and Marcia aren’t like the stereotypical Soc. Another friend from Pony’s gang shows up later and offers to drive everybody home. While in the car, the girls’ boyfriends show up to get them. As they leave, Pony says to Cherry “It’s okay….. We aren’t in the same class. Just don’t forget that some of us watch the sunset too” (46). In this quote Pony was reminding the girls that although they were socs and he was a greaser, they were all human beings and enjoyed similar things like the same sunsets. This book reminds us that everyone has value and we should look beyond appearances and social classes to find their inner beauty.

The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is a book about how no matter the challenges you face in life, always think positive and look past the negative. Ponyboy, Darry and Sodapop Curtis lost their parents in a car accident. They are labeled as greasers, along with the rest of their gang: Dally, Two-Bit, Johnny and Steve. Greasers are the poor social class that have long hair and wear leather jackets. In the first chapter, Pony is jumped by the Socs (the richer social class), and gets beat up. Later on in the story, Bob, the Soc who beat and scarred Johnny, tries to drown Pony. Johnny builds up courage and kills Bob to save Pony. The rest of Bobs group ran away from Pony and Johnny. Since Johnny is scared and so is Pony of the police, they run away and take shelter in an abandoned church. When they decide to head back, the church sets fire with children inside. Johnny and Pony run into the burning building and save the children. During this heroic action, Johnny gets severely burned and injured. “You still have a lot of time to make yourself be what you want. There’s still lots of good in the world,” (179). This quote shows that Johnny told Pony to realize how that he is still young and can change his future. No matter how hard life could be, always think positive and look past the negative.

The central idea of the " The Outsiders by S.E HINTON is about that you shouldn't judge someone base on how much money they have. The main theme of The Outsiders by S.E Hinton is that childhood is beautiful.
Ponyboy, Two-bit, Johnny, Steve, and Dally were close friends, they had gone to a drive-in movie. They met two socs and there names are Cherry and Marcia. Dally was talking with them but they got annoyed. Johnny stood up for them and then him and Ponyboy ended up sitting with them. Ponyboy realized that they weren't so different.

“I really couldn’t see what the socs hat to sweat about, good grades, good cars, madras and mustangs, good girls? Man I thought if I had worries like that I’d consider myself lucky.” (p.36)

This quote shows the socs have all these things and they take it for granted and the greasers can only wish for all of that.

The theme of this novel is that childhood is beautiful and in childhood, everything is new and beautiful. This causes Ponyboy to write the theme which is the novel.

My theme of the Outsiders, by S. E. Hinton is that family should always have each other’s backs. Johnny got hurt by Tim Shepard and went to the hospital. Ponyboy and the gang were there see Johnny. When Ponyboy and the others found out that Tim hurt him, Dally said, “We got to win that fight tonight.” “Dally said, “We got to get even with the Socs.” My quote helps me show the theme because Ponyboy and the gang were family to Jonny. To make things right, Ponyboy and the greaser wants to win the fight for Johnny.

  45. The theme of The Outsiders by S.E.Hinton is that friendship keeps us together and makes us stronger. Ponyboy is a Greaser who depends on his gang. There are mean Socs willing to beat up any Greaser they find, but Ponyboy and his friends try to prevent this from happening. They show a strong bond with each other and protect one another from being jumped by the Socs. The kids in the gang is all only have each other and show strong friendship. “We’re all we got left. We ought to be able to stick together against everything,”(176). This quote shows the theme because their friendship is the only thing that keeps them together and in the quote Soda is explaining that that they are all he got and that they should stick together no matter the obstacle. Friendship is vital to Ponyboy and his gang. Friendship makes them stronger and keeps them together during hard times.

The theme of The Outsiders by S.E. Hilton is that no matter what your background is everyone should be treated the same. The story involves two classes of people, one are the greasers who are poor, the other are the socs who are wealthy. The main character is Ponyboy a greaser raised by his brothers Darry and Sodapop. Ponyboys best friend is a greaser named Johnny. The two gangs always were fighting with each other, until one night all went wrong, and Johnny ended up killing a Soc named Bob. Johnny and Dally both who are greasers ran away and where going to hide in an abandoned church. The church was on fire and Johnny and Dally saved all the children and where heroes. Johnny eventually dies from his injuries from the fire, but tells Ponyboy in a letter "that there are still a lot of good in the world" (178-179 ). The quote explains to Pony that no matter where you come from, there are still a lot of good people in the world.

The theme of The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is that you shouldn’t judge someone by the way they look and where they live. Ponyboy is a 14 year old kid whose parents died in a car accident and has 2 brothers named Darry and Sodapop (who have to take care of themselves and Ponyboy) with a best friend named Johnny and a friend named Dally. They are all considered “Greasers” and all live on the east side of town. The people who live on the west side of town and are considered ‘Socs”. The Socs are rich and the Greasers are poor or middle class. Greasers are considered tough and bad people. People show pity on them, don’t like them, they get called gangs and juvenile delinquents with greasy hair and treat them very differently from the Socs because of the name they have planted been on .The Greasers also don’t wear nice close like the Socs do. They wear jean jackets and jean pants, with T-shirts or popped up collars shirts and tennis shoes. The Socs wear nice shirts with expensive jeans and nice cars unlike the Greasers who drive old, bumped up cars. The Socs and the Greasers have a rivalry. The Socs like to jump Greasers and hurt them on their free time. The Greasers and Socs get into many fights. Ponyboy and Johnny always hated getting jumped because they didn’t want to stab someone or use a switchblade. Ponyboy was not like the other Greasers. He was good in school. He liked to read and do things that most Greasers didn’t like to do. He said, “And nobody in our gang digs movies and book the way I do. For a while there, I thought I was the only person in the world who did.” (2) This shows that he is different from the way people and Socs describe him thought of him.. Ponyboy is a good kid and on the inside, he cares about school and people and he just os like everyone else who wants a good life. The theme that you shouldn’t judge someone by the way they look and where they live relates a lot to the way how Socs and Greasers are shown in the book The Outsiders by S.E Hinton.

The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton is a book about how there is a lot of negative in the world but you need to look past the negative and find the positive. Ponyboy, Sodapop, and Darry Curtis lost their parents in a car accident. They are labeled greasers and, Dally, Two-Bit, Johnny and Steve. They are all part of the lower class in society. Chapter one explains how Ponyboy was beat up by the Socs, the rich kids on the other side of the town. Later on in the novel, Johnny explains how he was beaten up badly by them, too. Ponyboy and Johnny got scared when the same Soc that beat Johnny up, Bob, gets out the car and walks over to Ponyboy. He started to drown Ponyboy, Johnny furious and killed Bob to save Ponyboy. The other Socs run away to the car and leave. Since Johnny is scared they ditch town and hike to an abandon church. One day the church sets on fire and Johnny, Ponyboy, and Dally go in it to save the children inside it. Johnny gets hit by a flaming bean and is rushed to the hospital. “ You still have a lot of time to make yourself be what you want. There’s still lots of good in the world,” (179) This quote shows that Ponybody still has a lot of time left to realize that he can change his future and be who he wants to. Eventually something bad will happen, but you have to be positive and find the good in it.

In S.E. Hinton's The outsiders the main theme is stereotypes don't define a person. In the Outsiders Ponyboy Curtis a sweet kind kid whose educated and smart is also labeled a greaser and even thought he is a greaser the fact that he is a greaser changes how the world sees him. While he who is a rather nice kid a bunch of spoiled rich kids called the socs who are mean cruel and vicious are found sweet and nice because they are rich. The soc often jump the greasers but one night when Pony is hanging out with his good friend Johnny the soc take it to far. They are beating Johnny and drowning Pony so Johnny stabs and kills a soc they then run away because since they are greasers and they stabbed a rich kid it looks bad for them even thought they were defending themselves. They run away to a church were Johnny says that they need to cut their hair so that they don't match the descriptions in the paper. When they are about to cut their hair Pony says."' Oh no!' My hand flew to my hair. 'No Johnny, not my hair"' He was saying this because his air represents him as a greaser and he is a greaser but he isn't mean and tuff he is nice and smart. This proves that the theme of this story is stereotypes don't define people.

The theme of the Outsiders by S.E Hilton is about friendship, friendship is really important because you need someone to bewith you all time worst and best times. The theme that friend are important is true because, the greasers stuck together just like in the beginning where Johnny got jumped by the socs the greasers were with him taking care of him. Also went Johnny gets beaten at home by his dad, all the greasers were with him to support him he was like the lost puppy but the greasers helped him supported him and made him feel better☺️. "Johnny was the gangs pet"(pg.12) "Johnny would have never known what love and affection are"(pg.12). The first quote shows that they love Johnny and care for him like a pet you love and care for. My second quote shows that the greasers showed him love and affection because his parents didn't do that so with out the greasers Johnny would have never survived. That's is why friends and friendship is so import you really do need someone with you all the time, and to make you feel better!.

The theme of the “Outsiders” by S.E. Hinton signifies that friendship is very important because friends always look out for each other. Friends also create life long bonds and build trust. A friend is someone you can share your secrets with. The Outsiders is about a group of ‘greasers’ who were always judged by people like ‘socs’ or socials. The socials always defeated the ‘greasers’ not just by fists but by who they were and how they dressed. The ‘greasers’ unlike the ‘socs’ had life very hard. They were also never allowed to do what they pleased. The Curtis brothers’ lost their parents in an auto wreck and as a result of this, the boys especially Darryl, felt is life was ruined. Had his parents been alive, Darryl would have gone to college and become a member of the ‘socs’. Now with his parents gone, both he and Soda had to drop out of high school in order to help provide for the family and ensure that their smallest brother Pony Boy did not end up as a high school drop out but go to college. The boys had each other and made sure to protect each other from being worked over by the ‘socs’. They also looked out for the other members of the gang like Johnny, the gang’s pet and made sure that Dallas kept his ‘nose clean’ or else he would face going back to jail, again. If they did not look out for each other someone was bound to get hurt, like the incident that occurred when Pony Boy left the movie and was walking home by himself. A group load of ‘socs’ embarked from their cars when they spotted him, ganged up on him and beat him. They almost shaved his head clean but Pony Boy screamed out for help and the rest of the gang heard his pleas and came to his defense. If it was not for friendship with the gang a lot of bad things would have happened over a given period of time.…. “ they were drowning you Pony,[63]”. Johnny would have never saved Pony boy from drowning by killing Bob. Notwithstanding, Johnny would certainly have gone to jail had it not been for Dallas who provided him with a gun, money and the location of the abandoned church to use as a hideaway. The quote [63] brings to mind the bond of friendship established between a group of boys who had a lot in common trying to survive the ridicule and hate shown them by others who were only different by the fact that they were born under better circumstances. A friendship that was so strong that when Dallas witnessed Jonny’s death it was too painful for him to continue living that he broke the law which cost him his life. Friendship can be painful and embody strength at the same time.

The Outsiders by S.E. Hilton theme is about looking at things in positive way. The story is about a fourteen year old boy whose name Ponyboy Curtis. Ponyboy is struggling in life. Pony lives with his two brothers Darry and Sodapop. The reason he lives with his brothers is because his parents died in a car wreck. Pony is the youngest of the group he hangs out with. Pony is a greaser meaning he’s dangerous, bad news, but pony is the exact opposite Ponyboy is kind and caring and a smart. One day after a drive in movie him and his friend Johnny lot when pony wakes up and diced to go home it is late at night. When he goes home his older brother was waiting for him. His brother ends up hitting Pony, and Pony ends up running away. Later that night Pony and Johnny run in to more trouble, with the socs/west side rich kids. The socs were drunk and mad because they think the greasers stole there girls so they beat Pony and Johnny. They soon start to drone Pony. Johnny has a switch blade with him and stabs bob a popular soc, which is droning Pony. When Pony wakes up Johnny tells him he killed bob. They start to freak out and don’t know what to do, so they go to Dally the craziest and most dangerous one of the greasers. He tells them to go to this abounded church until things die down. And they listen. By the next day they are at the church. As soon as they go to the church they fall asleep. The next day Johnny goes to the store and gets essentials. They end up cutting their hair, pony bleaches his. For the next few day they pass tie reading and playing cards. One day Dally comes to pick them up. As there driving back to the church Johnny decides to turn himself in. When they reach the church it is on fire. Pony dashes out of the car and runs into the church to save the kids stuck in the church, Johnny is right behind him. They both get burned. When Pony wakes up he is in an ambulance and there’s a man he doesn’t now telling him how brave he is. His brothers come and see him and take him home. A couple days later Pony is fighting in a rumble. The greasers won against the Soc’s! That night Dally drives him to hospital because Pony was beat up really bad. And Johnny dies that night. Dally took it the hardest and stole and pointed gun at a cop they shot him though. After a while Pony found the book that they were reading in the church. It had a letter in it from Johnny. It was telling Pony to “stay gold.” This is a quote from re letter Johnny wrote. It is referencing to the poem “Nothing Gold can stay.” Stay gold means look at everything positively. This gives Pony a sense that very thing is going to be ok.

The theme of The Outsiders by S.E Hinton is that nothing gold can stay forever. Ponyboy Curtis and his best friend Johnny Cade were considered greasers. The greasers were the low class, poor people, who often got jumped the socs, the higher class rich people. One time, Ponyboy was being drowned in a fountain by a soc named Bob. Suddenly, Johnny pulled out his switchblade, and killed Bob with it. To prevent getting into trouble, the 2 boys ran away from their town. One afternoon, they were smoking cigarettes by a church, and threw the matches by the church, thinking they were already put out. Next thing you know, the church sets on fire. Johnny and Ponyboy see young children in the church, so they quickly run into the blazing church to save the kids. Luckily, the kids and Ponyboy were alright, but Johnny was not. A few days later, Johnny dies, right before Ponyboy’s eyes, in the hospital. He’s not dead… He’s not dead, Ponyboy convinced himself.” “Stay gold Ponyboy, stay gold” (148). “I convinced myself that he wasn’t dead” (150). In the end, Ponyboy admits to himself that Johnny is dead, and that it was his time to go, and that he couldn’t live forever. Even though Ponyboy constantly convinced himself that Johnny was alive, he finally toughened up and admitted the truth. Right before he died, Johnny told Ponyboy to stay gold, which meant to stay young and live while you can, because life can end at any unexpected moment, just like Johnny’s did. The theme Nothing Gold Can Stay Forever relates to the book The Outsiders because Johnny didn’t live forever, or stay gold. In fact, nothing can live forever. But in the end, Ponyboy realizes this, and doesn’t cry every time Johnny’s name is said. After confessing to himself that nothing gold can stay, (Johnny’s life representing the gold), he is a stronger person both on the inside and out.

    S. E. Hinton wrote the "Outsider" to show
the world that people arent that different.
The greasers meet Cherry Valance who was
a soc or one of the rich kids. Ponyboy knew her
from school. They passed each other in the hall
but never spoke. While they were all at the movies
Cherry and Pony started to talk. Cherry embarrassed
Pony when she said"What's a nice, smart kid like
you running around with trash like that for? Cherry
liked Pony boy but not his friends because she thought
they were trash. After she got to know them she realized
    they were all alike.

The Outsiders by SE Hinton, The central idea in the Outsiders is that friendship means everything. Pony boy and Johnny wear jumped some socs, which socs are the rich kids and Pony boy and his gang of greasers are the poor kids that have greasy hair. When they were jumped Pony boy was almost drowned by a socs and Johnny had to do something about it so he would get hurt. “You really killed him, huh, Johnny? Yah. His voice gloved slightly, I had to they were drowning you pony they might have killed you”. This quote shows that friendship helps when you need help in a situation they would do anything for you. In the Outsiders the central idea is friendship means everything.

The theme of the outsiders b S.E Hinton is that friendship should always stick together, and that’s what makes them stronger. Pony boy and his brother’s parents died at a car crash. Pony boy struggles forgetting the death of his parents. His brother’s help Pony boy forget the loss of his parents. Pony boy feels better now thanks to his pals. “Soda is different from anybody he understands everything almost like he never hollering at me all the time the way Darry is or treating me as if I was six instead of fourteen,” (2). This quote helped me show the theme because it’s showing friendship and kindness. Friendship is strong when they stick together.

  57. The Outsiders by SE Hinton is don't judge people by their appearance. This is backed up by the greasers and the soc. Pony boy Curtis is the protagonist of this story he is surrounded by juvenile delinquents. There is a rivalry between the greaser and the soc who are opposites in a sense the greasers are the poor kids who live on the east side of town and the soc are the rich kids who live on the west side of town. People in town and they judge each other by their appearance the greasers are looked down upon on society as poor delinquents. At the end of the story pony boy writes the English project on his life around him and shares the story to everyone. In conclusion this story was about other things to but this is the one i picked and i think is a good message.

The outsider by S.E. Hilton is a book about friendship. Friendship can changes people and inspire people to do the right things. Ponyboy was thinking about other people when the church was on fire. He was think about how kids have a lot to live for. ‘’you better wise up Pony, you got tough like me and you don’t get hurt. You look out for yourself and nothing can’t hurt you’’(pg147). THIS quote shows my theme because friends always have your back no matter what it is and friends give each other advice just like Dally did to Ponyboy. friendship is most important and it can change people.
